Northrop Grumman and RapidSOS have partnered to integrate the companies’ emergency technology platforms in an effort to help first responders determine the location of distressed callers who use smartphones and other connected devices.
The partnership seeks to combine RapidSOS’ Next-Generation 911 Clearinghouse system with Northrop’s suite of computer-aided dispatch products that include CommandPoint CAD, Northrop said Thursday.
NG911 Clearinghouse offers public-safety answering points access location data from internet-enabled cars, phones, wearable devices, homes and applications that support transportation and navigation services.
RapidSOS designed its technology to operate with emergency call-taking, mapping and dispatching software platforms.
Northrop’s CommandPoint supports some ambulance, police, security and fire services nationwide.
