Peraton Upgrades Global Comms Network to Support Gov't, Critical Infrastructure Operations - top government contractors - best government contracting eventPeraton has launched efforts to add new points-of-presence across the U.S., Middle East, Europe and Asia Pacific region and broaden its terrestrial core network in an effort to build up its global communications services.

“Demand for high speed persistent communications has grown exponentially over the past few years, with today’s applications often requiring gigabit rather than megabit connectivity,” David Myers, president for communications sector at Peraton, said in a statement published Tuesday.

Myers added the updated network will work to deliver resiliency for transportation, public utilities and other critical infrastructure and government applications.

The enhanced network will use software-defined networking tools and fiber-based gigabit Ethernet to provide video, internet access and voice-over-internet protocol services as well as deliver endpoint data rates of up to 100 gigabits per second and network management support.

Peraton aims to expand its market footprint and deliver private networking services to support mission-critical efforts through the global network expansion initiative.

The company plans to have at least 150 network PoPs by the end of 2019.
