Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory has received two five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts worth up to $57.1 million to help the U.S. Air Force research and develop computer software platforms.
The Defense Department said Friday APL will aim to create a tool that can aid the service branch’s engineering and R&D efforts in the areas of space control, communications situational awareness and electro-optics; positioning, navigation and timing; and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance through a $47 million IDIQ.
The lab received a separate $10.1 million IDIQ to build prototype systems that can support the Air Force’s multidomain command-and-control architecture designed to help military forces address vulnerabilities at the National Space Defense Center.
Work under the first contract will run through June 13 and the second contract until June 8.
