Joseph Weiss, president and CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries for nearly six years, has informed IAI’s board of directors that he intends to retire from his dual-role once the company finds a successor.
IAI said Thursday it will form a committee to find the aerospace technology firm’s next CEO.
Weiss joined the company in 1998 after he spent 27 years at Israel’s navy.
His more than 20-year IAI career also includes roles such as MBT division director for naval systems and air defense; general manager of the space division; corporate vice president and general manager of the systems, missiles and space group.
The company noted it saw the amount of its contract awards climb to $5.5 billion over the past year and posted an all-time record order backlog of more than $11 billion.
“I am proud to leave behind me robust technological and business infrastructure and corporate culture aligned with the evolving competitive climate,” Weiss said as he thanked IAI members for their trust in his leadership.
