Ethan Dmitrovsky, former provost and executive vice president at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, has been named president of Leidos‘ biomedical research subsidiary and director of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.
Leidos said Thursday Dmitrovsky will lead a group of 2,200 scientists, healthcare professionals and support staff who aim to advance basic, translational and clinical science programs focused on AIDS, cancer and infectious diseases.
He succeeds David Heimbrook, who plans to serve as a company consultant after six and a half years of leadership at Leidos Biomed and FNLCR.
Jon Scholl, president of Leidos’ health group, said Dmitrovsky will help drive the company’s innovation efforts that aim to increase the quality of care worldwide through biomedical science research.
Dmitrovsky previously worked as an American Cancer Society professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and a principal investigator for the National Institutes of Health-backed Cancer Center Core Grant.
