Daniel Feehan, former principal deputy assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness at the Defense Department, in now adjunct senior fellow for the Center for a New American Security‘s Military, Veterans and Society program.
CNAS said Monday that Feehan will aid the organization’s ongoing research efforts as well as guide current junior staff and offer input on policy matters.
Richard Fontaine, president of CNAS, said that Feehan is committed to helping ensure the readiness of the country’s forces and support the service members who will transition to a civilian life.
Feehan was a principal deputy assistant secretary for readiness within the DoD, where he managed programs and policies on missions that the defense secretary and president have assigned.
He also served as a special assistant to the deputy Secretary of Defense, captain at the U.S. Army, engineer officer at the National Guard and a White House fellow.
He received a bachelor’s degree in international politics from Georgetown University as well as a master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
