Intel and its employees have donated nearly $30 million to various charitable organizations with diverse causes such as human services, education and civil rights as part of the International Human Rights Day celebration.
Brian Krzanich, Intel CEO, wrote in a blog post published Tuesday that the accumulated amount was the result of Intel’s invitation for employees to “strengthen their communities†through donations and community volunteerism.
All employees donated beginning Dec. 7 to nearly 3,500 organizations and the company matched the collected sum through Intel Foundation, according to Krzanich.
Eighty civil rights groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the Southern Poverty Law Center, received more than $150,000 from 379 employees.
Intel employees also raised $1.6 million for various human services organizations that work for the aid of vulnerable populations in the U.S. and overseas, as well as over $4.5 million for the education sector.
