Booz Allen Hamilton has co-hosted an onsite and online crowdsourcing hackathon at the firm’s innovation center in Washington, D.C. to present the impacts of crowdsourced development in the federal sector.
The four-day 2016 Topcoder Open Finals exhibited an Environmental Protection Agency Megahack that aimed to develop a portal for policymakers, industry associations and other key stakeholders to look for pending EPA laws and find out the regulations’ relation to Clean Air Act enforcement, Booz Allen said Monday.
Coders, programmers, designers, data scientists and developers joined forces to address challenges across different competition tracks such as algorithm, development, First2Finish, Marathon, user interface design and UI prototype.
Industry officials also shared their insights on issues that have an impact on federal information technology development and on lessons gained from enterprise-level crowdsourcing.
Speakers at the event included:
- Mike Isman, a vice president in the strategic innovation group at Booz Allen
- Ammar Qusaibaty, senior renewable energy consultant at the Energy Department’s SunShot Catalyst
- Dyan Finkhousen, director of open innovation and advanced manufacturing at GE’s Open Innovation Lab
- Rinat Sergeev, senior scientific advisor at Harvard’s Crowd Innovation Lab
