Michael Flynn, former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, has been named vice chairman of the board of directors at Drone Aviation.
Flynn will work to help Drone Aviation in its push to leverage the communications, surveillance and data collection functions of the company’s aerial systems and tactical aerostat platforms through collaborations with defense, government and commercial clients, Drone Aviation said Wednesday.
Flynn will also join the firm’s strategic advisory board to offer recommendations on the company’s business development and product marketing efforts.
He will collaborate with Jay Nussbaum, Drone Aviation CEO and chairman; Phillip Frost, chairman of the strategic advisory board and the firm’s principal investor; and Steven Rubin, executive vice president at OPKO Health; as a member of the strategic advisory board.
Nussbaum said Flynn will work to help the firm meet service personnel’s surveillance and intelligence requirements through Drone Aviation’s tethered aerial platforms.
Flynn, a three-decade Army veteran, chaired the Military Intelligence Board and led the Joint Functional Component Command for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
His other roles in the service branch include senior intelligence officer for the Joint Special Operations Command and assistant director of national intelligence.
