The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has teamed up with NASA and Boeing to launch by summer an online program that seeks to provide the engineering workforce with continuing education and training on systems engineering.
MIT Professional Education will deliver four courses under the certificate-based Architecture and Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems program through the edX platform, MIT said Tuesday.
Participants enrolled in the four-course program will need to undergo guest lectures and lessons on model-based systems engineering and earn continuing education credits in order to secure a professional certificate from MIT.
“This educational partnership enables a digital environment for learning and networking and allows us to offer professional growth to our employees,†said Marc Nance, director for competitiveness and integration at Boeing.
The certificate-based initiative is part of a Space Act Agreement signed by Boeing with NASA in 2015 in an effort to advance science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
