Francis Yip has been promoted to serve as group vice president of Verizon Asia Pacific, according to an announcement Tuesday from Christopher Formant, president of Verizon Enterprise Solutions.
Yip will be responsible for providing strategic cloud, mobility, network security and offerings to Verizon’s clients across the Asia-Pacific region, all while maintaining the business in Hong Kong, China, Korea and Taiwan.
Formant says he believes Yip has the experience to allow for additional growth of the company’s Asia-Pacifc presence–and not just because of his fluency in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Malay.
“Francis is an exceptional talent, and his leadership in North Asia the past two years has earned him a first-class reputation for commercial acuity,” said Formant. “His in-depth understanding of technology businesses in Asia, particularly in emerging markets, will be instrumental in helping our customers move their businesses forward.”
Yip will be replacing Andrew Dobbins, after Dobbins announced his retirement earlier this month.
Before he joined Verizon, Yip has a history of working in Dimension Data‘s North Asia operations, additionally holding senior management positions at Orange Business Systems.
