Cisco has been selected to receive an award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Center for Corporate Climate Leadership for work to help reduce carbon pollution.
The company was picked for the Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management-Goal Achievement for the Climate Leadership Award that is given also by the Association of Climate Change Officers, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and The Climate Registry, the EPAÂ announced Tuesday.
Award recipients were recognized 2014 Climate Leadership Confrence at the Hyatt Mmission Bay Hotel in San Diego, Calif.
The EPA said Cisco cut 25 percent of greenhouse gases 2012 at its campus through renewable energy purchases, building energy efficiency and reduced business travels.
Additionally, Cisco purchased 458,700 megawatt hours of renewable energy in the U.S., equal to more than 449,000 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emission reductions.
