Elbit Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary has received approval from the Customs and Border Protection to implement an in-fill radar and tower system the company built to help CBP agents protect the country’s borders.
CBP certified the system from Elbit Systems of America to support the agency’s air and marine border security operations in Texas, the company said Thursday.
The system is built through a contract awarded in 2017.
Elbit Systems of America equipped the system with C Speed‘s LightWave radar technology that works to identify small and low-altitude airborne threats in a busy environment.
CBP’s new sensor tower also includes day/night cameras and command-and-control software designed to correlate sensor data for border patrol agents to obtain a common operating picture.
Elbit Systems of America added it serves as the prime contractor and system integrator on the Integrated Fixed Tower situated along the Arizona border.
