Smiths Detection has introduced a checkpoint scanner technology built to help increase security and operational efficiency in facilities.
The company said Friday that the HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX checkpoint scanner, which features Smiths Detection proprietary computed tomography scanning technology, was demonstrated at the Inter Airport Europe exhibition.
HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX removes the need to take out electronic devices and liquids from hand luggage to help accelerate the screening process at checkpoints.
Tony Tielen, vice president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa operations at Smiths Detection, said that CT technology will help comply with C3 and future C4 European standards for explosives detection systems used at cabin baggage checkpoints.
The HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX scanner was built with a capacity for integration with current checkpoint lanes in a move to meet cost efficiency targets.
Smiths Detection added that the platform can also be merged with the Checkpoint.Evoplus platform to help optimize operations using remote screening and directed search strategies.
