Charles River Analytics has received a one-year, $500,000 contract option from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to further develop probabilistic modeling tools designed to help system engineers analyze and predict system performance in uncertain environments.
The company said Monday the award extends work under DARPA’s Probabilistic Model-Based Programming Techniques for Prediction, Analysis, and Control program, which seeks to develop probabilistic programming extensions to existing model-based systems engineering languages.
“We’re helping engineers create system models to reason about the operating behavior of systems in uncertain environments,” said Avi Pfeffer, a chief scientist at Charles River.
Pfeffer added that tools developed under PROMPT will work to support the creation of system designs at a faster pace and lower costs.
