Ohio State University and the Air Force Research Laboratory’s 711th Human Performance Wing have signed a cooperative research-and-development agreement with the goal to create human performance monitoring processes for the battlefield.
The U.S. Air Force said Nov. 30 the partnership will offer 711th HPW access to data on the university’s Division 1 college athletes that have similar mentality, power and strength as Special Operations warfighters in order to create a daily report for workloads and specific modalities for warfighters.
The 711th HPW looks to assist personalized recovery of uninjured athletes and warfighters similar to how Spec Ops units that continuously train for missions as well as determine which information is necessary to aid coaching staff for personalized recovery methods.
“As a result of this agreement, the 711th HPW has access to all of the data collected and can directly transfer it into extremely useful analytics and reports for the coaches,” said Josh Hagen, lead for the signature tracking for optimized nutrition and training team at 711th HPW.
“In turn, we can learn and develop advanced sports science analytics and methodologies that are directly applied to the Department of Defense.”
