The U.S. Air Force has asked industry to submit comments on a draft request for proposals for a program that seeks to replace the service branch’s UH-1N Huey aircraft fleet with an off-the-shelf helicopter.
Comments to the draft RFP for the UH-1N Replacement Program are due Dec. 16, according to a FedBizOpps notice published Friday.
The military branch also requested companies not to resubmit feedback on the draft versions of the Training System Requirement Document and Air Vehicle System Requirement Document for the program.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center also plans to conduct the third Industry Day for the program that will run from Dec. 12 to Dec. 14 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
The military branch released the draft RFP nearly three months after it issued a request for information for the program.
The Air Force intends to buy up to 84 new helicopters to replace the UH-1N fleet and begin the acquisition lifecycle at milestone C with a plan to award a contract in early 2018, according to the RFI.
