General Dynamics has been awarded a contract modification to provide high-frequency communications support for the AN/USC-61(C) digital modular radios of the U.S. Navy.
The company said Thursday its mission systems business will provide the 3G high-frequency, third-generation Automatic Link Establishment system that will work to facilitate communications between U.S. and coalition forces.
ALE works to supplement satellite communications when networks are unavailable as well as address transmission rates, static and noises in voice communications, General Dynamics added.
AN/USC-61(C) four-channel DMR radios work to support communications between Navy vessels and submarines through a spectrum of military voice and data communication channels and a National Security Agency-certified encryption chip, General Dynamics noted.
The company further said the Mobile User Objective System waveform has been added to DMR to support the Navy’s beyond line of sight voice and data communications.
