The U.S. Navy has awarded a $23 million cost-plus-award-fee contract modification to General Dynamics‘ NASSCO-Norfolk business unit for support services during a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier’s fiscal 2016 planned incremental availability.
General Dynamics said Tuesday it will perform depot-level maintenance, modifications and ship repairs to update the USS Harry S. Truman‘s military and technical capacity.
The company noted it will perform work at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard through May 2017.
NASSCO-Norfolk has also landed a five-year, cost-plus-award-fee and incentive-fee mid-Atlantic CVN private sector maintenance contract to conduct non-nuclear planning and maintenance work on four Nimitz-class aircraft carriers as well as one Ford-class carrier during six Chief of Naval Operations availabilities.
General Dynamics added the second contract also covers continuing or new maintenance repairs on the aforementioned East Coast-based aircraft carriers.
