The Department of the Air Force has announced it wants to negotiate a contract for the production, repair and logistics support of a global positioning system receiver for the Defense Department and foreign military customers.
In a presolicitation released Monday, the Air Force said it also looks to tap Rockwell Collins for the requirements for the planned sole-source Advanced GPS Receiver contract.
The GPS receiver system is integrated in more than 150 military platforms and serves to guide users in vehicular, hand-held, sensor, and gun laying applications.
The Air Force plans to solicit proposals on June 21 and award a contract by March 2017 with a base period of one year and four one-year ordering periods.
Work under the contract will occur at the contractor’s facility or the U.S. government’s facilities.
