BAE Systems and Czech Republic-based firm VOP CZ have forged an alliance in efforts to land the country’s BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle replacement program.
The team seeks to deliver CV90 infantry fighting vehicle units along with VOP CZ’s experience in design, manufacturing, assembly and engineering to the Czech Republic’s land forces in support of the program, BAE said Wednesday.
Marek Spok, managing director of VOP CZ, said the company will work to capitalize on its partnership with BAE to address the technology, development and production requirements of the Czech army.
The industrial cooperation between BAE and VOP CZ also seeks to generate new jobs and facilitate technology transfer, BAE added.
The company noted that more 1,200 CV90 vehicles are on contract for seven international customers.
CV90 is designed to deliver tactical and strategic mobility and has air defense and anti-tank features in order to address survivability and protection challenges in any tactical environment.
