CH2M has landed a contract of undisclosed value from Colorado’s Department of Transportation to serve as prime consultant of for a study to examine how the state can develop a new system to finance infrastructure projects.
The company said Thursday the Road Usage Charge pilot research study aims to help state legislators and transportation officials consider a model where drivers are charged for their share of road network use rather than fuel consumption.
CH2M added it will support CDOT’s plans to identify and evaluate issues associated with implementation; test the feasibility of the state’s mileage-measurement technologies and gain feedback for future system designs, among others.
The firm noted it has previously supported Oregon’s OReGO Road Usage Charge program, where CH2M supported every aspect up to deployment planning.
CH2M further noted it has been selected California’s Transportation Department to perform an independent evaluation of the California Road Charge Pilot Program — a volunteer program with 5,000 participants that looks to assess Road Usage Charge feasibility.
