The U.S. Army has awarded a five-year, $33 million task order to Battelle‘s Natick operations unit for technical analysis and support services to the service branch’s Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Command in Massachusetts.
Battelle said Monday that it will help develop survival support and equipment systems for special operations forces and work with an Army team to help develop, test and field mission tools.
The nonprofit organization received the order under the potential five-year, $3 billion Defense Systems Technical Area Tasks contract vehicle awarded to 11 recipients plus Battelle in June 2014.
“Our main goal is centered on improving and enhancing the performance of the operator whether it’s through integrated survivability components or integrated equipment systems,†said Battelle Project Manager Lee Charpentier.
Battelle will offer specialty programs under the technical tasks such as canine equipment systems, free-fall and airborne system and vertical assault equipment.
The organization will also also provide a protection portfolio that includes personal protective equipment, medical monitoring equipment, rescue and recovery equipment, body armor, protective eyewear, helmet systems and communication headsets.
