A Defense Department-formed organization will hold a town hall meeting on Feb. 18 to discuss funding opportunities for small businesses to research and develop national security technologies, DoD News reported Tuesday.
Cheryl Pellerin writes the “Decoding DoD” forum will occur between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Defense Innovation Unit Experimental‘s headquarters in Mountain View, California.
George Duchak, director of DIUx, said the organization aims “to accelerate the flow of ideas and new technology from Silicon Valley and elsewhere into the DoD.”
Representatives of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Agency and DoD’s Office of Small Business Programs plan to attend the event, Pellerin reports.
She noted forum topics will include intellectual property, broad agency announcements, other transaction authority and technology areas of interest to the department.
DoD established DIUx to help explore defense technology platforms and identify potential customers, funding sources and contracts for the products across the U.S. military.
