General Dynamics‘ NASSCO subsidiary on Saturday unveiled the first ECO tanker for client SEA-Vista’s crude oil and  petroleum product shipping operations.
RaceTrac Petroleum CEO Allison Moran broke a champagne bottle against product tanker Independence and former US Joiner CEO Jayne Rathburn pulled the ship’s trigger during a christening and launch event held Saturday at NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, General Dynamics said Monday.
Kevin Graney, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics NASSCO, said the 50,000-deadweight ton Independence is designed with fuel efficiency and environmental-friendly technologies.
NASSCO is contracted to build three ECO tankers for Sea-Vista and collaborates with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering on the project.
