Siemens has been awarded a $24 million energy savings performance contract to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers‘ power and water conservation initiatives at a military helicopter maintenance facility in Texas.
The company’s building technologies division will lead installation of energy-efficiency systems at the Corpus Christi Army Depot in efforts to meet goals in the White House mandate on energy and water savings, Siemens said Wednesday.
Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens’ government technologies subsidiary, said the business will work to help the Army manage energy consumption and adopt renewable energy technology.
Siemens will collaborate with multiple other companies such as MCB Lighting and Electrical to modernize lighting and other equipment throughout the Army depot.
The company estimates that upgrading the depot’s infrastructure will help the military branch reduce its energy consumption by almost 20 percent and costs by up to 14 percent.
The Corpus Christi Army Depot is built to provide repair and overhaul services for rotary-wing aircraft and related components being used by the military branch.
