Former Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Summers has joined the advisory board of artificial intelligence and quantum technology company SandboxAQ.
“I am excited to join the board of advisors at SandboxAQ, a company at the forefront of integrating AI and advanced compute to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges,” the renowned economist said in a press release issued Thursday.
In his new role, Summers will utilize his extensive experience and expertise in technology, government and finance to ensure that SandboxAQ can support private and public sector customers such as the U.S. Army.
Summers served as the 71st secretary of the treasury under President Bill Clinton. He also held the role of chief economist at the World Bank, where he helped Japan and emerging markets in Asia to weather international financial crises in the ‘90s.
In addition to his public sector work, Summers also serves as president emeritus at Harvard University, chairman of the Center for Global Development and vice chairman of the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
He also sits on the boards of OpenAI and Skillsoft and advises multiple other companies such as the Citigroup.
