ASRC Federal worked with the Environmental Protection Agency to build a modern facility for records management.
The EPA’s new digitization center for permanent records is one of the first to comply with standards set by the National Archives and Records Administration, the company said.
NARA is tasked to preserve U.S. government records and other historical documents and maintain the Presidential Libraries system. As part of the federal government’s efforts to transition to a fully digital environment, agencies are required to digitize and then dispose of paper records.
NARA stopped accepting paper records for archiving and preservation on June 30.
The EPA’s digitization center will accelerate the conversion of government records and documents from paper to trackable digital files, reducing the cost that comes with paper use and storage and allowing leaders and researchers to access data-driven insights online.
According to government services, its contract team and industry partners committed hours of testing to streamline the digitization process at the agency’s records management facility.
“The team’s focus on establishing quality control processes and digital preservation strategies, coupled with the implementation of validation measures, played a significant role in advancing the EPA’s digital transformation,” said Sanjay Sardar, operating group president for civilian and health at ASRC Federal.
