Israel Aerospace Industries has received a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to develop prototypes of a hybrid version of an IAI-built missile.
The Point Blank missile’s ROC-X version will be designed to meet specific DOD requirements with the purpose of enhancing the organic precision strike lethality and survivability of small tactical teams, the aerospace and aviation manufacturer said Thursday.
IAI will provide the preliminary mock-ups as well as training support for the hand-launched weapon to the DOD in the fiscal year 2023.
Point Blank is capable of flying at heights over 1,500 feet at a maximum speed of 178 mph and can be operated by a single soldier. It contains electro-optical systems that allow real-time surveillance data collection and validation.
