Communications & Power Industries, a Palo Alto, California-based electronic component manufacturer, has completed its acquisition of L3Harris Technologies’ ESSCO business.
As part of the acquisition, ESSCO, a manufacturer of metal space frame ground radomes for government and defense customers, will join the existing radome business, CPI Radant Technologies Division, the company said Monday.
Andy Ivers, president and chief operating officer of CPI, said, “In 2021, we have diversified and deepened the portfolio of RF components and systems that CPI provides to government, military and commercial customers through the acquisitions of the TMD Technologies business in July and the ESSCO business in November.”
Ivers added that the ESSCO acquisition provides CPI with “significant opportunities for future growth.”
The business combination is meant to augment CPI’s high-performance, low-loss composite material-based airborne and shipboard radomes with ESSCO’s radio-frequency ground structures and advanced alternative materials. The move is also intended to expand the companies’ offerings to military and commercial customers.
ESSCO will continue to operate in its current facilities located in Ayer, Massachusetts, and the company’s executive management team will remain in place and report to CPI’s Radant Technologies Division President, Tim Smith.
The transaction was originally announced in September 2021.
