Unissant has received a $37.4 million contract to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ online medical record transfer system used in payment reviews.
The digital company said Friday it will provide software development, testing, cloud migration and hosting support as well as software maintenance services in support of the Electronic Submission of Medical Documentation platform.
“EsMD plays a critical role in the overall Medicare program integrity mission by reducing burden on medical providers and supporting review contractors and health information handlers with their improper payments identification activities,” explained Manish Malhotra, CEO of Unissant.
EsMD is a key component of the Medicare Free-For-Service program, with the platform facilitating the digital transfer of medical data to determine the cost of hospital care.
Unissant and its subcontractor Chags Health Information Technology will also help the CMS, the RCs and HIHs in using the platform to review medical payments.
Manoj Chaganti, cofounder and chief operating officer of C-HIT, said the company will collaborate with Unissant to enable interoperability and data sharing at enterprise-level through API Gateway integration and esMD modernization.
