Leidos has secured a potential $2.5 billion Advanced Enterprise Global Information Technology Solutions contract from NASA for delivery of telecommunications, cloud and data center services in support of all of the agency’s centers and facilities.
“Our work with NASA to evolve their IT infrastructure ultimately helps support their mission of returning to the moon, exploring the universe and continuing to learn more about our own planet,” Jim Moos, president of Leidos Civil Group, said in a statement published Wednesday.
“We look forward to providing communication, data center, cloud and cybersecurity services to NASA to further enable mission-critical operations,” added Moos.
AEGIS was contrived to enable a consistent communications infrastructure covering both wide-area and center local-area networks while supporting cybersecurity, collaboration tools, emergency and early warning systems, telephony, cabling and radio systems.
If NASA exercises all options and award terms, the contract will reach its potential value and will have has a ten-year period of performance.
Leidos also provides the agency with enterprise information technology services through the NASA End-User Services and Technologies contract. The NEST and AEGIS contracts support NASA’s overall IT operation and mission.
The company is experienced in providing a broad range of IT and technical support to several government organizations. Most recently, Leidos was awarded a potential $471 million Transportation Security Authority contract for airport screening equipment deployment services.
Leidos’ TSA contract requires the company to work on-screen equipment installation, relocation and removal activities for airport scanners, and on-site coordination and design support.
Another recent award demonstrating Leidos’ service diversity is a $13 million Center for Disease Control contract for bioinformatics and scientific computing support services. The CDC contract requires Leidos to provide information technology, data management, high-performance computing and analytical services related to genomics and proteomics.
