Lockheed Martin has partnered with the U.S. Air Force to help establish a software development factory to come up with command and control and mission planning applications for U.S. Strategic Command as part of the Global Strike and Product Support contract.
Lockheed’s GSPS team worked with USSTRATCOM at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska to create 12 software pipelines using Agile DevSecOps methodologies and develop a cloud-based environment that has accelerated capability delivery from six months to two weeks as part of the Rogue Blue Software Factory project, the company said Tuesday.
“We used a novel microservice-patterned component architecture to break new ground on the use of containers at USSTRATCOM,” said Colleen Saint, GSPS program manager at Lockheed. “This expanded the capability of the system to ensure it would provide needed legacy capability while complying with the newest technical and cybersecurity standards.”
Lockheed said the company and the command used the new environment to deploy the Strike Planning Aid 2.0 system as replacement for USSTRATCOM’s SPA weaponeering platform.
“By establishing the new DevSecOps pipelines for GSPS application, Lockheed Martin supported the completion of 120 sustainment spring deliveries to field the Strike Planning Aid 2.0 system,” said Lisa Owens, program manager at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
