The U.S. subsidiary of Elbit Systems will provide night vision devices and spare parts to the U.S. Marine Corps under a $41 million delivery order.
Elbit Systems of America will supply Squad Binocular Night Vision Goggles to the military branch through March next year as part of a $249 million indefinite-quantity/indefinite-delivery contract announced in September 2019, the company said Tuesday.
The SBNVG system is designed to help Marines become more aware of situations when performing missions at nighttime with binoculars that feature white phosphor tubes for image intensification and a thermal imaging sensor.
USMC originally awarded the contract to Harris Corp., which completed its all-stock merger with L3 Technologies in late June 2019 and closed the $350 million sale of Harris’ night vision business to Elbit Systems in October of the same year to comply with a regulatory requirement to the prior deal.
