Daniel Elwell, former deputy administrator at the Federal Aviation Administration, has retained his seat on Dedrone's advisory board.
Elwell will help Dedrone develop strategies for the defense and aviation markets and provide counsel on regulatory affairs, the company said Tuesday.
He brings experience in overseeing civil aviation activities and leading the operation and development of the National Airspace System in his previous role. The executive also managed FAA's Beyond and Unmanned Aircraft System Integration programs.
"Dan Elwell's career with the FAA has been marked by his dedication to building a framework for the safe and cooperative integration of drones into our airspace," commented Dedrone CEO Aaditya Devarakonda.
Elwell also carried out missions as a command pilot at the U.S. Air Force.
