Dave Levy, vice president of U.S. government, nonprofit and healthcare businesses at Amazon Web Services, wrote in a guest piece published Wednesday on FedScoop how AWS works to help federal agencies address the challenge of keeping up with machine learning, edge computing and other transformational technologies and the need to train employees in order for them to take advantage of the capabilities that cloud offers to improve mission delivery.
Levy, a 2021 Wash100 Award winner, said the company helps address those two challenges facing agencies through its experience and efforts to offer cloud technology training.
He noted that AWS continues to develop new cloud-based services and products, including Kubernetes containers, flexible databases and cognitive applications.
“We’re also bringing greater compute and storage capabilities to the edge, with devices like AWS Snowball, which promises to revolutionize the types of IT services available to our nation’s warfighters and the global government workforce,†he added.
Levy said AWS is also committed to helping agencies empower federal workforces through its cloud training and certification program tailored for the U.S. government.
“We’re continuing to expand a cafeteria-style curriculum to meet a variety of skill levels and learning goals that support agencies and their workforces,†he added.
