Fidelis Sustainability Distribution has partnered with Synaptive Medical to build and deliver a robot-assisted surgery tool as part of a five-year, $45M contract from the Defense Logistics Agency.
The partnership's work is centered on Modus V, a digital microscope designed to provide enhanced ergonomics and visualization capabilities to surgeons, Synaptive said Tuesday.
Modus V displays high-resolution imagery of the surgical field and tracks instruments through the use of an automated exoscope attached to a robot-controlled arm. The tool will also utilize a 0.5-tesla point-of-care magnetic resonance imaging technology, navigation and whole-brain tractography features.
DLA awarded the contract via the Medical Equipment Electronic Catalog vehicle, a procurement contract used by the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs to buy robotic-assisted surgery technologies and associated products.
