Northrop Grumman has shipped the latest version of an avionics suite with digital cockpit features to support the U.S. Army’s fleet of UH-60V Black Hawk medium-lift helicopters, Inside Defense reported Wednesday.
James Conroy, vice president for navigation, targeting and survivability at Northrop, told the publication in an interview that the avionics package serves as “software version three†of the modernized UH-60V cockpit that will be used for an upcoming flight test.
The Army plans to deploy the package for initial flights as the service branch continues airworthiness certifications for nighttime and limited-visibility flight rules, according to the report.
In April, the Army concluded initial operational test and evaluation activities for its UH-60V helicopters integrated with Northrop's digital cockpit elements.
