The U.S. Navy has posted a market survey to seek insights on submarine-launched unmanned aerial vehicles built to perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations, Inside Defense reported Tuesday.
The service branch requires the UAV to remain airborne for an hour, cover beyond line-of-sight areas and employ at least 256-bit variable bandwidth encrypted datalink.
Other requirements are a configurable design to support various mission types, a three-inch diameter form factor and an electro-optic capacity with target analysis feature.
Interested vendors have until Nov. 16 to submit white papers in response to the announcement.
