Red Hat Gets Common Criteria Certification, CSfC Status for Operating System; Paul Smith Quoted

Red Hat has obtained Common Criteria certification and Commercial Solutions for Classified designation for its Enterprise Linux 7.6 operating system.

The National Information Assurance Partnership issued the Common Criteria certification after Acumen Security tested and validated Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 against the Common Criteria Standard for Information Security Evaluation, Red Hat said Monday.

With the CSfC status, Enterprise Linux 7.6 is now included in the National Security Agency’s CSfC TLS Protected Servers Components List, which seeks to advance the use of commercial products in layered platforms safeguarding national security data.

"The operating system forms the heart of secure enterprise computing, from national security needs to critical biomedical research,” said Paul Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Red Hat's public sector business and a three-time Wash100 awardee.

Smith added the CSfC status and Common Criteria certification reflect the company’s commitment to delivering a secure platform for classified and sensitive workloads across the private and public information technology sectors.
