The U.S. Army will move to solicit ideas from small businesses on how to fire projectiles from self-propelled howitzers at a faster rate under the branch’s one-of-its kind effort designed to incentivize companies that support military technology modernization efforts.
Interested vendors can submit proposals from Sept. 18 to Oct. 6 for the “Fire Faster” effort as part of the Special Program Awards for Required Technology Needs program, Army Futures Command said Tuesday.
The branch aims to contract with small technology firms 30 days after a solicitation period has ended and plans to award as much as $200K over four months for Phase 1 of the SPARTN program.
Army Futures Command added that participants have the chance to receive additional funds to advance innovation proposals under the succeeding phases and the option to join a cohort program that will allow them to communicate with possible end users in the military.
