DoD Adds Fortinet’s Web Gateway to DoDIN Approved Products List; Bob Fortna Quoted

The Department of Defense has certified Fortinet’s web gateway technology for inclusion in the DoD Information Network Approved Products List, enabling the company to offer the cybersecurity tool to DoD agencies.

Fortinet said Monday the FortiProxy tool underwent testing with security technical implementation and security requirements guides before securing the DoDIN APL authorization.

FortiProxy uses functionalities such as web filtering, antivirus, threat protection and other detection concepts to defend systems against internet-based attacks.

The tool also leverages web content caching, network optimization and other features to reduce bandwidth demands in line with policy requirements and organization-specific infrastructure needs.

Bob Fortna, president of Fortinet’s federal arm, said the APL certification serves as “another important milestone” in the company’s efforts to protect federal and DoD infrastructure against attacks in the evolving threat landscape.

Fortinet also offers a Security Fabric tool currently deployed by various government agencies to defend their classified and unclassified data, according to the company.
