BAE Systems has tapped Kongsberg to design and build up to 150 remote 30-millimeter medium caliber turrets in support of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle-30 effort.
USMC seeks to employ the MCT-30 system to optimize warfighters’ lethality and provide ACV platforms with multi-user and reliability features, Kongsberg said Wednesday.
The turret utilizes a link-less medium caliber cannon and is built to enable accurate firing capacities for tracked and wheeled combat platforms.
Kongsberg will deliver MCT-30 test articles in 2021 prior to the system’s production phase.
The U.S. Army utilized MCT-30 units to reinforce the Stryker Brigade’s combat capabilities. The service branch also deployed the turrets to support the European Deterrence Initiative.
