Tory Bruno: ULA Updating Health Regulations Across Facilities, Supply Chain

United Launch Alliance has implemented precautionary measures at its facilities across the U.S. as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt operations, SpaceNews reported Saturday.

Tory Bruno, president and CEO of ULA and former Wash100 Award winner, told the publication that the company has taken steps to disinfect its locations, maximize telework and require social distancing for employees that need to be physically present at launch facilities.

ULA also trained firms in its supply chain on implementing federal health protocols, according to the report.

“A big thing when this started was that we had to be all over our supply chain,” said Bruno. “Many of our suppliers are small guys. And even though they’re trying to do everything right, they might only have 20 or 30 employees in a facility making something for us, and a couple of cases can shut the whole facility down.”

ULA is composed of over 2.5K employees spread across Colorado, Alabama and Texas as well as the Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Air Force stations in Florida and California, respectively.

The company is slated to launch Boeing’s X-37B spaceplane through the Atlas V rocket next month as part of the U.S. Space Force’s USSF-7 mission.
