Lockheed Martin demonstrated at the Satellite 2020 conference a beta version of an application designed to help government agencies, academic institutions and space industry investors better understand the elements related to constellations of communications satellites, SpaceNews reported Wednesday.
The “Constellations†app will be launched on Apple’s app store in the next few weeks. The platform would help users align the space architecture with their requirements and budgets by adjusting the satellite life, orbit altitude, duration of full service and other factors.
Executives said the Lockheed app aims to help users easily understand and visualize the tradeoffs between cost, performance and other factors considered when it comes to designing and deploying satellite constellations.
