David Nieuwsma, formerly head of interiors business unit at United Technologies Corp.’s Collins Aerospace subsidiary, has been appointed president of the subsidiary’s avionics business unit, The Gazette reported Monday.
He will succeed Stephen Timm, who was named president of Collins Aerospace, and will be responsible for aviation electronics and information management platforms for military aircraft and commercial clients worldwide.
“Having worked in commercial avionics during the early portion of my career, as well as previously leading both the Information Management Services and Military Avionics and Helicopters portfolios, I’m excited to build upon that experience in leading our Avionics strategic business unit,†Nieuwsma said in a statement to the publication.
Nieuwsma has held various leadership roles in his nearly three-decade career at Collins Aerospace, including senior vice president for information management services, VP and general manager for airborne solutions and VP for government systems strategy and business development.
