Science Applications International Corp. has increased efforts this year to assist military veterans and their families in need through the company's employee volunteering activities and charitable donations.
SAIC said Friday it worked with multiple nonprofit organizations to provide monetary, housing, educational and therapeutic support to military personnel and family members.
"With more than a quarter of our employees are veterans – that’s nearly 6K men and women who bring knowledge, experience and dedication to our customers’ missions and influence our values and our culture every day,†said Nazzic Keene, CEO of SAIC and a 2019 Wash100 awardee.
The company helped 10 veterans prepare for cybersecurity careers through a scholarship program with the (ISC)2 nonprofit organization's Center for Cyber Safety and Education.
Baltimore-based USO of Metropolitan Washington received assistance from SAIC employees to administer holiday festivities for children of active servicemen.
SAIC also supported housing programs in collaboration with Building Homes for Heroes and Operation Homefront.
