The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency plans to develop a program that will enable automated design capabilities for cyber-physical systems.
According to a DARPA press release published Friday, the Symbiotic Design for Cyber Physical Systems program will use a model-based framework with machine learning functions to create artificial intelligence-powered tools that will speed up design and development processes.
DARPA noted the program will help designers explore knowledge bases to come up with various design approaches. In addition, the AI tools will validate candidate subsystems to address potential concerns and develop a solid design.
“The Symbiotic Design program seeks to employ second and third wave AI, combining learning with advanced search techniques to help synthesize highly sophisticated designs,†said Sandeep Neema, a program manager at DARPA’s Information Innovation Office.
DARPA will hold a proposers’ day on Aug. 12 to entertain queries in line with the program. The agency seeks to develop “third wave†AI technologies that will utilize contextual models to obtain new knowledge through the $2B AI Next campaign.
