AT&T has added two new cell sites in Virginia for the FirstNet public safety network’s expansion in the region. The new sites, located in Fairfax and Manassas, will help first responders access mission-critical information and provide additional connectivity to residents and businesses, the company said Monday.
“We worked hand-in-hand with Virginia’s public safety community to understand their needs for the network,†said Jeff Bratcher, chief technology and operations officer at the First Responder Network Authority.
New and existing sites across Virginia are equipped to accommodate FirstNet Band 14 spectrum and other frequencies within AT&T’s spectrum portfolio. AT&T and the FirstNet Authority work together to manage FirstNet under a public-private partnership, providing first responders with wireless communications.
