QTS Realty Trust has landed the 40th spot on the Environmental Protection Agency’s list of the top 100 U.S. organizations that use renewable energy resources and systems to reduce the impact of their operations on the environment.
The company said Tuesday it also ranked fourth among data center service providers and 12th among telecom companies under the EPA’s Green Power Partnership.
QTS uses over 304M kilowatt-hours of green energy each year and plans to implement a “methodic sustainability” framework to reduce the firm’s carbon footprint and utilize more renewable fuel products.
Calpine Energy Solutions and Citigroup Energy have agreed to provide renewable energy intended to help QTS operate data hubs in New Jersey and Illinois.
The data repository operator added it aims to power all its facilities with renewable sources by 2025 as part of sustainability efforts.
